Direct selling
is a very interesting concept – it mobilizes and empowers individuals who market
and sell the products or services of a company in return for a commission on
those sales. This industry has experienced a lot of growth in the recent past
with many individuals investing a considerable amount of time in it and making
a living for themselves. The growth of this industry and the companies that
lead the pack has been nothing short of spectacular. Statistics show that the
industry is growing at a brisk pace, particularly the APAC region. These
statistics are provided by the World Federation of Direct Selling Associations
(WFDSA). WFDSA’s membership consists of 60 national Direct Selling Associations
and one regional federation – Federation of European Direct Selling
Associations (Seldia). In 2013, the global body of this organization reported
record industry sales and sales force figures.
The Asia-Pacific
region contributed 43% or nearly half of retail sales in the global direct
selling industry in 2013. In the APAC region, the average percentage YoY sales
growth was 11.77 per cent and the 3‐Year CAGR (Compounded Annual Growth Rate)
in this region from 2010‐13 was 10.75 per cent. And this is only going to get
better!
With this kind
of impressive growth, leaders in this industry are quite optimistic about the
future with more people signing up to be part of this. For many brands though,
being a leader in any industry is not just about numbers and figures. Many
multinational corporations have an added sense of responsibility in ensuring
the progress of the industry as a whole and contributing in making the world a
better place. Hence, many of the industry’s top players in Asia like QNET are making
concrete efforts to offer more to its members. QNET has been one of the most
recognized names in this industry across geographies and has innovated in many
different aspects to retain and add value to its members.
Take for
example, the adoption of digital technology – an everlasting imprint of the 21st
Century. The advent of Internet technology has changed everything—including the
field of direct selling. Now, more than ever, independent distributors can call
upon Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks to help expand their reach
and their consumer engagement. Hence, QNET has created a new innovative mobile
interface called QNET Mobile that enables distributors to conduct their
business on the go, enroll prospects and make payments for products on their
mobile devices - online commerce - easier and more seamless.
The company has
also taken giant strides in the world of policy making. Being an important part
of the multi-billion direct selling industry, QNET has actively participated
and supported government regulations. Take for example, its support to the
India Government’s plan on amending laws pertaining to direct selling. The
company has been vocal about the need to carve out clear cut laws to govern the
MLM and direct selling industry in India which has been generating large scale
self-employment and contributing to the exchequer and even pledged support and
assistance in every way possible.
For a major,
multinational organization like QNET, ensuring growth as an enterprise is one
of many important things. With the massive training and support it extends to
its distributors along with its social responsibility initiatives encompassing
a plethora of causes, QNET is ensuring that it’s an organization that leads the
pack in more ways than one in the direct-selling industry.
